Burkburnett is allowing local businesses a chance to advertise at it's Aquatic Center expected to open later this year. There are a total of six ad spaces each comes with a five year contract. The prices for ad space range from as little as $1,000 to $2,000 each year.

"We have a lot of options available to us that would be something in the future that the board of commissioners would decide on in regards to what projects, what programs that we would reinvest these monies in. So that availability is open to us if that option comes up in the future," said Burkburnett Town Manager Mike Whaley.

The idea is to hyper-localize the businesses in the town through attraction advertisement. In other words, people will come to the park, see the signs, then stay for the businesses. Whaley said the park is expected to open sometime in late spring or early summer.

If the city is able to sell all of the allotted ad space, Burkburnett will rake in around $9,000 annually and $45,000 over the five year term. Whaley said there are no plans to expand advertisements to other city properties.
