Man Charged with Intoxicated Manslaughter Appears in Court

Charles Edwin Hill was in the 78th District Court on Friday, March 20th at 8:30 a.m. for a jury pre-trial.

Hill has been charged with Intoxicated Manslaughter w/Vehicle.

Police say Hill was driving the truck that crashed into a power pole on Old Iowa Park Road in January 2013. A passenger in the pick-up truck, 22-year-old Joseph Sousa, died in the crash.

Hill was taken to the hospital, where troopers interviewed Hill and noticed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him.

Hill gave a blood sample, and the results showed that he was beyond the Texas legal limit at .135.

Hill's trial date has been tentatively set for April 6th.
