Man Arrested After Failing to Meet Registration Requirements

A 37-year-old man is in the Wichita County Jail tonight after being arrested by Wichita County Sheriff's deputies for failing to update authorities about where he's living.

Investigators say Jessie Ponce is charged with Failure to Meet Registration Requirements due to his previous conviction of sexual assault.

According to the affidavit,  this stems from an event in October of last year, when Electra Police and Wichita County Sheriff's Deputies were investigating a burglary of a habitation. A woman who lived at the house mention Ponce's name, and that he had listed another house in Electra as his residence. The arrest affidavit indicates that investigators discovered there was no electricity service to the house Ponce had called his home, and that the power had been turned off in October, 2013. However, authorities also say Ponce had apparently moved to the Houston area without filing the correct legal paperwork he's required to do as a sex offender.

Ponce was arrested and booked into the Wichita County Jail yesterday.

His bond is $25,000
