Bowie's Slade Signs with Rose State Baseball

Bowie High School senior baseball standout Dylan Slade signed to play baseball for Rose State College (Okla.) Wednesday afternoon in the BHS library.

He's one of several Texoma baseball players to sign with the Rangers program this spring, including Wichita Falls High School's Koy Daws, Rider's Hayden Proctor, Vernon's Josh Drennan and fellow Jackrabbit Cooper Cantwell.

Slade pitched and played first base for Bowie, but said he expects to primarily play first for Rose State. He's batted .359 so far in 16 games this season with two home runs and 14 runs batted in. He said the RSC coaches told him while recruiting him they especially liked his hitting ability.

"It's definitely been a dream of mine since I was a little kid," Slade said Wednesday. "[I] worked for it especially hard these last four years, and now I'm getting an opportunity to play. And it's with good friends of mine."

He has played with many of his future teammates for several years in summer travel ball.

"It's a lot of fun going to play at the next level, but also playing with all these kids you've grown up with and played before. It definitely influenced [my decision,]" he said.
