In February, City Manager David Casteel announced that he will retire on March 31, 2015. Casteel is leaving his post for an opportunity in the private sector as a consultant for a company contracted to do work for the Texas Department of Transportation.
After meeting in executive session for about 45 minutes Monday morning, Graham's City Council appointed Larry Fields to be the Interim City Manager for a three month period.
Fields was Graham's City manager for 30 years before his retirement.
Graham's City Council also decided to sign a 10 year contract with Larry Burkett Construction Company to furnish the well water.
The City Council also decided that car washes could remain open during Stage 4 of the drought. The city and Graham ISD are working together to drill a well for watering the baseball field and for dust control at the rodeo arena.
