E.M.S. Coordinator Steps Up As Vernon's Interim City Manager

Vernon's financial troubles continue as Mitch Grant, Vernon's City Manager, has retired from his position. However, Kade Long, Vernon's E.M.S. Coordinator has stepped up to fill the empty seat for now.

Kade Long is acting as Vernon's Interim City Manager.

Vernon Mayor, Joe Rogers told Newschannel 6 that Long is real good for the city right now.

“He was a team player.  He stepped up when we needed to make budget cuts, he made it happen and so he did really good.  We have a lot of faith in him and so we thought that he would be great," said Rogers.

Long said that he is just keeping the City Manger seat warm for the time being, but for now he is hoping to make some changes.

“We're going to hopefully make some positive changes and keep things going forward and keep things moving forward for the citizens," said Long.

Vernon's new City Manager is Joe Jarosek.  He comes to Vernon from Uvalde, Texas as the Public Works Director.  Jarosek will officially be Vernon's City Manager Monday, May 4th. Vernon City Commissioners chose him to be the next City Manager at the March 24th commissioners meeting.
