Walk of Knowledge Event Being Held to Bring Awareness of Child Abuse

The "Walk of Knowledge" will be held on April 10th on the Wichita County Courthouse lawn beginning at 11:00 am.  Rotary North will be serving hot dogs with all the trimmings.

This walk will spotlight the effect of  abuse and neglect of Children in Wichita County and also provide information on how to prevent this abuse and neglect.  This event provides a very visual reality of child abuse and neglect with children's shoes set out along the sidewalk with signs that provide information both on statistics and ways to prevent abuse.  There will be 704 pair of shoes along the walk represents the number of confirmed child abuse cases in Wichita County for 2014.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Communities like ours that care about their children and families can work together to find solutions to tough problems.  National Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time to make their struggle our own. There are events going on all month long.
