One person is confirmed dead, and four others are hospitalized after a head-on collision Saturday night on the northwest side of Lawton. It happened just after 7 p.m. at Quanah Parker Trailway and 75th Street.

Police say the driver of a Jeep was headed eastbound when the vehicle departed the road hitting a street sign and then hitting the AmeriCab that was driving westbound. It is still unknown why the driver of the Jeep was going the wrong direction.

The driver of the AmeriCab was airlifted to OU Medical Center. Three more passengers in the cab were transported to the hospital by ambulance and so was the driver of the Jeep.
