Jerrick tabbed LSC Pitcher of the Week

Midwestern State's Tayler Jerrick garnered Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week honors as announced by league officials Monday afternoon.

The sophomore from Anaheim, Calif. led the Mustangs to a series win by claiming two victories in the circle over No. 12-ranked Angelo State last weekend.

Jerrick allowed one earned run on nine hits over 14 innings while logging 12 strikeouts to just two walks as MSU became just the second team to claim a series win against the Rambelles this season.

Jerrick allowed one earned run on five hits while fanning seven in an 8-3 win on Friday before taking a shutout into the sixth inning in a 7-1 victory on Saturday.

Jerrick upped her season record to 5-3 to go along with a team-best 2.33 ERA. She has limited the opposition to a .241 batting average in 57 total innings this season with 39 strikeouts and 21 walks.

Tarleton State sophomore first baseman Erika Menchaca went 9-of-13 (.692) with two home runs and eight RBIs as the TexAnns split four games with Texas A&M-Commerce last weekend in Stephenville to earn top hitting honors.

Midwestern State hits the road to take on Oklahoma Christian Tuesday night at 5 and 7 p.m. before taking on Texas A&M-Commerce in a four-game set on Friday and Saturday.
