The Mustangs head into Tuesday morning's final round 20 strokes behind tournament leading Cameron, which fired fourns of 288 and 284 for a 4-under 572.
The Aggies are trailed by Central Missouri (577/+1), Oklahoma Christian (578/+2), St. Edward's (580/+4), Texas Wesleyan (583/+7), Dallas Baptist (586/+10) and MSU (592/+16).
Senior Derek Oland notched his 10th par-or-better score of the season and 45th of his career on this way to a two-round total 143 (-1) to stand tied for sixth eight strokes behind individual leader Bradley Ferrell of Cameron. Ferrell carded consecutive sub-70 rounds of 69 and 68 for a 7-under 137.
Sophomore Luke Thomas notched MSU's second best score of the day with an even-par 72 during the second loop. He finished tied for 24th with teammate Thomas Smith, who carded rounds of 74 and 75 for a 5-over total of 149.
Sophomore Jared Baker carded a pair of countable scores at 75 and 76 for a total of 151 (+7) to tie for 39th while junior Brandon Banks marked rounds of 78 and 77 to tie for 56th with an 11-over total of 155.
Freshman Will Mullins fired scores of 74 and 80 to tie for 49th while competiting as an individual medalist.
The Dallas Baptist Patriot Classic is the final regular season tournament for the Mustangs. Postseason play begins with the Lone Star Conference Championships set for April 20-21 at the Frisco Lakes Golf Club.
