One Person Dead From A Motorcycle Accident in Comanche, Oklahoma

U.S. Highway 81 North of Comanche, Oklahoma has been shutdown after one motorcyclist has died and 13 other motorcyclists have been injured.

53-year-old Monty Howell was pronounced dead on scene. Five others were take to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Hospital officials say 3 are listed in serious condition, one in critical condition, and one in fair condition.

Four other injured motorcyclists  were taken by ambulance to the Duncan Regional Hospital, and have since been released.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reporting that the bikers were heading south towards Comanche going around a curve when a pickup truck heading north crossed the center line, hitting five motorcycles.

"This is the first one I have had with this many motorcycles involved. It is pretty tragic. I have had a lot of them with one or two motorcycles to have 13 involved and five of which hit that is the most I have ever had at one time," said Trooper Nathan Mackey.

At this time, it is not known why the pickup truck crossed the center line. Preliminary reports say the motorcyclists were headed to the Rattle Snake Hunt in Waurika, Oklahoma.

Troopers expect this section of Highway 81 to be closed for the next several hours.
