Shots Fired Call Ends in Arrest

Wichita Falls, TX. - On April 10th around 11:00 p.m., officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were in the area of 33rd and Travis investigating a possible shots fired call.

While in the area, officers observed a male walking at a fast pace in a drainage ditch.  The subject told officers, "people are shooting over there."  When officers began to approach the subject, he began to flee on foot.

As Officers were pursuing the suspect they were able to see him reach for a handgun that he had in his front pant pocket, the suspect then threw the weapon over a fence.

Officers were able to catch up to the suspect. However, as they were placing him in handcuffs, the suspect attempted to get away.  Officers deployed their Taser and were able to get him into custody.

The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Claiborne. Claiborne was transported to jail where he was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Evading Arrest, and an unrelated warrant.
