Solvay Novecare to Reduce Staff at Vernon, Texas Facility.

Solvay Novecare will reduce staffing at its Vernon plant due to the recent and significant downturn in the oil and gas market. To ensure the long-term health and viability of the site, the company will enact reductions via layoffs and voluntary packages.

Since historic highs in October, 2014, the price of oil per barrel has dropped by more than half and severly impacted energy-producing customers served out of the plant. The facility makes sustainable, guar-based specialty chemicals used in a variety of oil and gas applications, including production and stimulation among others. In addition, the site serves customers in personal care, industrial and agrochemical markets.
