Michael Kuhrt will take over as interim Superintendent for WFISD should Dr. John Frossard resign and accept another job in Beaumont. The WFISD school board took only ten or so minutes to decide on who would fill Dr. Frossards shoes.
The board cited the experience of Kuhrt, the current Associate Superintendent, with day to day operations of the school district and his work on the current WFISD bond proposal made him the ideal candidate for the interim position.
"Our facilities are older facilities they are not flexible spaces. We know that health sciences we know that restaurants, retail management are important needs in our community and we want to make sure that we have programs that fit the needs of our community but also fit our students' interest," said Court.
Though Kuhrt said he is happy to fill in as interim should he need to he remains focused on the near and not the distant future.
"We need to keep the focus on the students keep the focus on taking care of their needs getting them graduating, getting them promoted to the next grade and also on this May 9th bond issue," said Kuhrt.
The school board is hoping that if Dr. Frossard does choose to resign that it won't have a negative impact on the WFISD 2015 bond proposal.
