Woman Arrested After Burn Marks Found on Child

Wichita Falls, TX - Electra Police say 26-year-old April Calhoun, also known as April Allen, is accused of causing injury to a child.

According to the arrest affidavit, the investigation began in February of last year, when Electra Police were called by a resident in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, regarding a child who had what appeared to be burn marks on his body.

Police were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of Glisson to interview Calhoun. Police say Calhoun claimed the child fell on gravel. However, police say when the child was taken to the hospital, medical personnel made the determination that the injuries were consistent with burns from what was possibly a cigarette lighter.

Police also say the child's injuries were on the chest and forehead. Police also say Calhoun's boyfriend told authorities that the child, who was only 1-year-old at the time, was injured after leaning against a heater.
