Man Breaks Window of Patrol Car in Attempt to Escape Custody

Wichita Falls, Texas -

An 18-year-old was arrested after Wichita Falls police say they found marijuana in his car, then attempted to escape custody after breaking the window of a patrol car.

Around 4:15 a.m. Thursday morning, police say witnesses reported that a driver was pulling into driveways on Southmoore Lane, stopping, and then parking in the middle of the street.

When officers stopped 18-year-old Ernest Tescum, Jr., the officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from his car. After searching his vehicle, officers discovered just under an ounce of marijuana in several baggies.

The officers handcuffed Tescum and put him inside the patrol car, but officers say he broke a window and escaped. Officers chased Tescum on foot, and ended up using a taser to stop him.

Tescum is charged with Criminal Mischief,  Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Escape.
