Rescue Teams Working To Recover Body Of Missing Boy

COTTON COUNTY, Okla_

The search for a missing boy in West Cache Creek is over Saturday morning. Rescue teams are attempting to recover the body at the Cache Creek Bridge in Cotton County.

Just after 4 a.m. Saturday rescue teams closed the Cache Creek Bridge to attempt the recovery. As of 8:45 am the body had not been recovered.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, just before 3 p.m. Friday, a boy and his five friends were kayaking on the creek near State Highway 5 when the victim's kayak overturned from the swift water.

As the boys went around a bend, five of them made it to shore, but could not see the victim.

Lawton Fire Department has a rescue boat in the waters to help with the recovery. Cotton county emergency management has asked that no volunteers try to help while they recover the body.
