DPS Trooper Seizes 150 Pounds of Marijuana

Wichita Falls, Texas - DPS troopers conducted a traffic stop on Saturday, May 16th along Highway 287, which yielded 150 pounds of marijuana valued at $910,000.

Around 2:53 p.m. on Saturday a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Ford Taurus traveling eastbound on Highway 287 for a traffic violation near Wichita Falls.

The driver of the Taurus was identified as 62-year-old Richard Allen Pope from Land-O-Lakes, Florida.

During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered four large duffel bags of marijuana in the vehicle.

Pope was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana Over 50 Pounds, Less than 2,000 Pounds. The drugs were allegedly being transported from Sacramento, California to Land-O-Lakes, Florida.
