Red Cross Shelters Begin to Close as Residents Return to Homes

Wichita Falls, Texas - Red Cross Shelters will close at Noon on Monday as residents begin to receive notification of cancellation of evacuations orders and shelters prep for closure.

As flood waters start to recede, residents are being notified that they can return to their homes. As these notifications are being received, and shelters are emptying, Red Cross volunteers begin closing procedures at all locations. These procedures include a period where shelters remain open so that residents can return if needed.

Katrina Farmer, Executive Director of the American Red Cross says "I am so proud to be a member of the Wichita Falls community.  Watching the response and support that has come forward to help the affected families has been amazing.  Thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered or donated.  We appreciate each and every one of you."

If the weather changes, shelters can be opened at any time if requested by the city or county.
