Guilty Verdict Handed Down In Lawton

A Lawton jury has found Bryan Dutton guilty of killing Sam Ruffin.

After two hours of deliberations on Wednesday night, jurors came back with a guilty verdict of 1st Degree Manslaughter.

Dutton had been charged with 2nd Degree Murder. The jury came back with a lesser charge and have recommended a 22-year sentence.

Dutton was arrested after Sam Ruffin was shot and killed in a parking lot in Lawton. Dutton said he shot Ruffin because he believed the victim was assaulting his girlfriend.

Ruffin's testified that she begged Dutton not to shoot. Formal sentencing for Dutton is scheduled for July.
