An arrest affidavit for two suspects arrested in connection to the shooting near the Westmoreland Apartments shows new details and charges.
On Wednesday at 9:00a.m. police went to the Westmoreland Apartments after receiving a number of calls about gunshots. According to the arrest affidavit, the victim was one of the callers. He said he was being shot at while in his car.
Witnesses gave a detailed description of the suspects that fled the scene in a car. Officers spotted the vehicle and began to chase them. According to the affidavit, they reached speeds nearing 95mph.
During the chase, officers noticed one of the passengers tossing bullets and what appeared to be marijuana out of the window. The car chase went all the way to the 2700 block of Palmetto. This is why the car came to a stop and the two passengers in the car got out and ran on foot.
The driver, Deamber Darlene Koerth was caught and detained. Her arrest affidavit explains her three-year-old son was sitting on her lap while she was driving.
Officers swept the immediate area in search for the other suspects. Eventually they found a home they believed they went into. They set a perimeter and eventually found Marcus Wilson inside. He matched the description witnesses gave about one of the suspects.
Wilson was taken back to the station for questioning. The affidavit shows one of the officers searched the home he was in. They found a green shirt and a handgun with blood on it. Marcus also had a cut on his right hand that appeared to be fresh.
Once the evidence was shown to Wilson he confessed he was one of the passengers in the car. He explained they went to the apartments because Koerth was meeting a friend. He went on to say they were talking about the murder that happened on Tuesday.
Wilson also admitted the gun used was his. He said he did not think the other people in the vehicle has weapons.
Koerth has been charged with Abandoning/Endangering a Child, Tampering With or Fabricating Physical Evidence, and Evading Arrest or Detention in a Vehicle.
Wilson is charged with Evading in the Vehicle and two unrelated warrants. He is also facing three counts of Deadly Conduct.
The police still need your help finding the third suspect. He is described as a Hispanic male with long hair and multiple tattoos. If you have any information, call Crime Stopper at (940) 322-9888.
