Rider's Vasher Commits to Texas Tech Football

Rising Rider senior T.J. Vasher had his pick of colleges, and of sports, as a football and basketball standout.

But on Friday he chose the field over the court, and committed to Texas Tech football.

Vasher caught 67 passes for nearly 1,000 yards and twelve touchdowns for the Raiders in 2014, his junior season. Many of them were highlight-reel plays, and he had a knack for the dramatic, with several game-winning plays.

He held football offers from powerhouse schools including Ohio State, Mississippi and Mississippi State, and basketball offers from Division-I schools SMU, Tulsa and Boise State.

His receivers coach this past season at Rider was Texas Tech graduate Eric Ward, who spent the spring as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad.
