78th Oil Bowl Game This Saturday

The 78th Maskat Shrine Oil Bowl Classic football game will be played this Saturday night, June 13th, at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.

Tickets are $12 for reserved seats, and $10 for general admission. They can be purchased at the Maskat Shrine (directions) or Jerry's Sporting Goods in Wichita Falls, or at the gate.

The game is in its third-straight year as a West Texas vs East Texas format, and many of this year's coaches have Texoma ties.

The head coach of the West Texas All-Stars is Wichita Falls HS head coach Danny Russell, who will be joined by Burkburnett head coach Scott Boswell as defensive coordinator, and Mansfield Legacy head coach (and former Electra coach) Chris Melson as offensive coordinator. Old High assistants Joe Cluley and Tim Kilgore and Burkburnett assistant Tracey Stringfellow will also be members of the West coaching staff.

The East Texas All-Stars also have some Texoma connections in their coaching staff, with WFHS head coach and alum Jayson Lavender serving as offensive coordinator under head coach Kyle Storey. Both currently are at Frisco Independence HS, after previously working together at Decatur.

Lavender's former defensive coordinator at Old High, Marcus Shavers, will also be a member of the East team coaching staff.

Here are the tentative rosters for both teams, which are always subject to change as players sometimes drop out at the last minute, and others are added:
