Bowie Hospital Officials Work to Keep Hospital Open

Bowie, Texas - Officials at Bowie's Hospital met Wednesday afternoon to discuss what they needed to do to allow the hospital to remain open.

The hospital's board of trustees have made several attempts to preserve the healthcare for residents in Bowie, but continue to face financial difficulties.

At the meeting, officials have discussed how they wanted to increase people's property taxes to offset some of the financial trouble, turning the hospital into medical taxing district to make up for the shortfall in revenue. Hospital officials

want to increase property tax by 18.5 cents per 100 dollar value, though it won't exceed 40 cents per 100 value.

If this doesn't get voted on by public, the hospital will be shut down by December 2015. A date in November will be chose to put this matter to a vote.
