New Nixle Categories Available for Residents

Wichita Falls, Texas- There is another aspect of the City's new emergency alert system Nixle, that residents can take advantage of.

Users can now register for free notifications for community events, activities and department updates.

Go to  the

Nixle website and choose from the following categories (others will be added as needed):

Parks and Recreation

so anyone can create an account that will allow them to manage their Nixle alerts and advisories.

Managing an account can include choosing what type of alert that is received; text, email, voice; entering home, business and cell phone numbers; disconnecting alerts from certain agencies or City Departments and more. To sign up for Emergency Alerts, residents simply text their home zip code to 888777, for weather alerts text GO WFNWS to 888777. Once this is done residents will be able to receive emergency notifications from the City's Police and Fire Departments, Emergency Preparedness, Public Information Office and the National Weather Service.
