Juneteenth Celebrations in Wichita Falls

Residents of Wichita Falls came together Friday night to celebrate the 150

th

anniversary of Juneteenth.

"Juneteenth," celebrates June 19, 1865, the day that Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, with the news that the Civil War was over and all of the slaves in Texas were free.

Friday night's celebration included food and music, as well as a parade through downtown Wichita Falls.
