Electra Juneteenth Celebration

The community will gather together in Electra Saturday for a fun Juneteenth celebration. A parade will kick off the festivities at 10 a.m. It will start at the Electra City Park located at 600 East Roosevelt Street. Activities will run until 2:30 p.m.

They will also shed light on the importance of this  celebration. It commemorates the date Texas slaves were notified of the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Lincoln.

The event will bring residents throughout the area together for presentations, food, singing and fun. The Electra Juneteenth committee is also asking for donations  for scholarships, and other worthy causes.
