One-Year-Old Dead after Being Ejected From Vehicle

At 9:42  Friday evening Vernon Police, Fire and EMT crews responded to a two vehicle accident on the corner of Mesquite and Indian.

A Chevy Tahoe driven by Alean Addison of Vernon was driving south in the 2400 block of Mesquite.  5 passengers were in the car; an 18-year old, a 1-year old male, a 7-year-old female, a 3-year old male and a 9-year-old male.

None of the passengers in the Chevy Tahoe were wearing a seat belt.

A Toyota Avalon driven by Carol Gauldin of Vernon was driving east in the 1600 block of Indian. Gauldin was wearing her seat belt.

Addison failed to yield to the right of way at the yield sign in the 2400 block of Mesquite.

The front end of Gauldin's vehicle collided with the passenger side of Addison's vehicle in the roadway.  Addison's vehicle rolled over and landed on its top.

The 1-year-old male was ejected from Addison's vehicle and was dead upon arrival of Vernon PD, Fire and EMT.

Addison as well as the remaining passengers in the vehicle were transported to Wilbarger General Hospital. Gauldin was also transported to Wilbarger General Hospital. Conditions are unknown.

This case remains under investigation.
