Jacksboro, Texas – On Monday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a vehicle accident that claimed the life of a teenager.
Around 7:00 a.m. Monday morning, officials responded to a one vehicle crash involving 2007 Scion on State Highway 199, five miles East of Jacksboro.
Five people were inside the vehicle. The driver, 16-year-old Sarai Perkins, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to authorities, the car was coming up on a left hand curve on the road when Perkins ran off the road on the right hand side and ended up overcorrecting, which caused the vehicle to roll.
Officials say Perkins was not wearing her seatbelt.
Three other passengers were taken by ambulance to Jacksboro for medical treatment. One passenger was taken by medical helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Their current conditions are unknown.
