Lawton Police Investigating Attempted Kidnapping

Lawton, Oklahoma - On Monday, Lawton Police Officers responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping that happened between the 1700 block and 2700 block of Southwest G Avenue around 4:00 p.m.

According to authorities, the 16-year-old victim said that she was walking on G Avenue when a Hispanic male pulled up in a white Chevy pickup and told her to come over to the truck. She continued to walk westbound on G when she said that male came up from behind her, grabbed her arm and began dragging her towards the truck.

The victim was able to get free from the suspect's grip, and began running away while screaming for help.  The male was then able to grab her again by the neck and tried to drag her to the truck when the victim again got loose and ran away, at which time the truck disappeared.

When the victim got to 25th and Southwest G Avenue, the male showed up again and tried to grab her once more, the victim tried to call for help, but dropped her phone and the suspect picked it up.

A passerby stopped to assist, and made the suspect give the victim her phone back. The suspect returned to his vehicle and left, turning southbound on 26th Street.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, around 26 years of age, 5'8" tall and 145 pounds wearing a black tank top t-shirt and blue khaki type pants, and was said to be driving a 2-door white Chevrolet pickup.

The Lawton Police Department is currently investigating the case, and has not received any other calls or incidents of attempted abductions by anyone fitting this description.
