Stephens County Man Arrested, Charged with Child Molestation

Duncan, Oklahoma - A Stephens County man is back in jail after investigators say a mother walked in on him molesting her children.

Wednesday, investigators say Eric Absher touched the woman's children while visiting the children's grandmother at her home. The children's mother told investigators she walked in on the suspect touching her children and that's when she grabbed a pool stick and started beating him. From there, investigators say the mother chased Absher from the home.

Eric Absher was charged with Lewd Acts to a Child Under 16 in February of this year, after he allegedly exposed himself to a child and tried to force them to touch him inappropriately.

Thanks to tips from the public, investigators were able to track Absher down once again and arrest him. They're hoping he won't get back out this time.

Absher is accused of molesting several young brothers and sisters while their mother was in the next room.  Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney says won't be tolerated.

"There's not any more serious of a crime, in my opinion, against humanity to molest a small child. We are talking four-, five- and six-year-olds. They don't need to be running the streets, they need to be put away for the rest of their life," said Sheriff McKinney.

Sheriff McKinney says when the children's mother saw what was happening, her motherly instincts kicked in to overdrive. He says she grabbed a pool stick and started defending her children, causing Absher to flee the home with the mother close behind him.

"He was able to stop a passerby saying 'this woman was crazy.' Not knowing what had just occurred and that guy takes him away from the scene," said Sheriff McKinney.

McKinney says while Absher is in jail now, they hope to do what they can to keep him off the streets of Stephens County.

"He's a very dangerous individual, especially to children, and I think he's proved that," said Sheriff McKinney.

The Stephens County Sheriff's Office says this is still an ongoing investigation and are still interviewing the children. Absher is expected to appear before a judge on Tuesday, where he could face up to 12 different charges, including seven counts of Lewd Acts with a Child and one of Exposing a Child to Pornographic Material.

Investigators say the list of charges is expected to grow. At the time of his arrest, Absher was wanted on forgery charges.
