Henrietta, Texas - The City of Henrietta has been put under a Boil Water Order until further notice.
Due to a repeat distribution system positive bacteriological test, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the public water system of the City of Henrietta to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and for making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, residents may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
City of Henrietta crews are currently flushing the entire water distribution system. Once the flushing is completed, samples will be collected and transported to the laboratory for the bacteriological testing.
Once the testing is completed and results forwarded to the City, the customers will be notified that it is no longer necessary to boil the water and the water is safe for consumption. The Boil Water Rescind Notice will be issued in the same manner as this Boil Water Notice.
