Sheppard Air Force Base has hosted Freedom Fest for years with little to no major safety and security problems; this year's no different. Master Sergeant Philip Parker said that SAFB has been planning and preparing for this event since January.
"We are going to be out here not only ourselves, but also Wichita Falls PD, Wichita County Sheriff's office great community partners providing security," said Master Sgt. Parker.
Sergeant Jacob Jaynes has been working to help prepare security and safety operations at the base for Freedom Fest.
"All the vehicles coming on this base because we are a federal installation they are subject to search and seizure so you can be stopped at the base and your vehicle can be searched," said Sgt. Jaynes.
Both Jaynes and Parker have stressed that guns, knives, and alcohol will not be allowed when coming onto SAFB. Those who plan to attend will have to use the Hospital Entrance to get in and out of SAFB.
