Former Wichita County Commissioner Dr. Joe Miller has died.
He served the county as a commissioner for 10 years.
Miller had retired from a long time OB/GYN practice before getting into politics. His background in the medical field was a huge asset to the county. One commissioner who served along side him said his expertise really helped when working on the Wichita County Jail and the health needs.
"That's pretty overwhelming when you look at the jail and all of the health issues, needs and contracts with the doctors and it's a lot of money involved," Pat Norriss said, "So, he really knew how to do that and he did it. He was truly a public servant."
Norriss said he always had a sense of humor. However, it was his intelligence that separated him from everyone else.
Funeral arrangements have not been set.
