Lawton Homicide Suspect in Custody, Police Continue to Investigate

Lawton, Oklahoma – On Sunday night, Lawton Police investigators were able to locate and interview a suspect in the stabbing death of Keith Kern.

Kern’s death happened late Friday night near Southwest 18th Street and "A" Avenue. Officials say Kern was walking with two other people when he was attacked. One person called 911 while the other tried to keep him alive until first responders got there. Kern was taken to a nearby hospital, but later died.

Due to information learned from the interview with the suspect, and other evidence, an arrest was made.

38-year-old James Timothy Davis Jr. was booked into jail on a complaint of Second Degree Murder and Possession of Marijuana.

However, Lawton Police say that no formal charges have been filed as of this time and it is unknown when those charges will actually be filed as there is evidence is still being processed, and they are interviewing possible witnesses at this time, and until that is completed they will not know definitively whether there were others involved or not.
