Veterans of Foreign Wars in Burkburnett crowded parts of downtown with classic and new models of cars in an effort to raise funds for those who served.
John Bishop, a Vietnam Veteran, of Burkburnett VFW said that his chapters number one concern is the safety and well being of veterans in Boomtown. Satuday Bishop and many members of his chapter held a car show to help collect more money for the chapter. Bishop explains how the money is used to help veterans in need.
"We do whatever we can to help if they have problems. One guy came into town and he was broke. So we decided to help him pay some of his bills. Just to see the look on the guy's face and you pay his electric bill for him just to help him out that is that is something important," said Bishop.
Many non veterans could be seen at the show donating money or showing off their own automobiles and bikes. Michael Backus is a non military member who feels strongly about helping American soldiers.
"They went out there and they signed a bill for their life basically. They are willing to give up for anything for their country and that is worth helping them out with," said Backus
The Burkburnett VFW chapter said that all funds collected today will go directly towards future Burkburnett Veteran's needs.
