Wichita Falls Police are working to get more information after a man was taken to United Regional Hospital Monday night with a gunshot wound.
Police were called out to Bailey Avenue and Humphreys Street around 11:00 Monday night for reports of gunshots.
When police got there, they found shell casings on the ground.
Shortly after that, authorities said a male, later identified as 21-year-old Desmond Matthews, was checked into United Regional for a gunshot wound. However, after the victim got out of surgery, he was uncooperative with police and refused to speak to them.
However, a woman who lived nearby in the 1000 block of Juarez said she heard gunshots and someone yelling, "I've been shot." The woman went out to investigate before she found the victim, who was bleeding. The woman then took the victim to the hospital.
