If you drive on I-44, you might want to find another route.
Road repairs will start on Wednesday, August 5th, 2015 on the southbound lanes. Various lanes between Maurine Street and the Wichita River will be closed around the clock over the next three weeks. The reason is so contractors can work on the first phase of a $1.6-million project to repave the roadway. This phase includes concrete pavement repairs. After the repairs are complete, the contractor will schedule phase two.
Officials are asking all drivers to be alert while driving down I-44. The lane closures and times will change as the crew makes its repairs. Ultimately the entire project will be overlaid with new asphalt hot mix.
