Vernon Shooting Leads to Man's Arrest

Vernon, Texas – One man is behind bars following a shooting in Vernon, Texas on Sunday.

On Sunday, August 9th at 12:58 p.m., the Vernon Police Department received a 911 call about an unwanted guest in the 1300 Block of Strahan.

According to police, the confrontation escalated from verbal to physical.

The caller claimed at least one subject was armed. During the 911 call, it was later overheard that at least two subjects were armed, and a shot was heard--followed by several more shots.

One person was shot, and transported initially to Wilbarger Hospital, and was later transferred to United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls. His current condition is unknown.

Police say that the other person that was involved, 36-year-old Beauford Daniels, turned himself in at the Police Department

Daniels was arrested on an Outstanding Parole warrant from California. He is currently being held in the Wilbarger County Jail.

Early investigation revealed that all persons involved knew each other. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
