Lawton Police Department Arrests One of Their Own

Lawton, Okla. - The Lawton Police Department arrested one of their own over the weekend.

Around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Sergeant Gabriel Hoffman’s lieutenant and captain met with him to pass along information. During that contact, they noticed Hoffman was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. Hoffman’s supervisors believed he was under the influence, and could smell alcohol on his breath.

A field sobriety test was performed and Hoffman was placed under arrest for Actual Physical Control (APC).

Hoffman was arrested for Actual Physical Control because he was in the driver’s seat when his supervisors arrived, and the vehicle was drivable, though officers did not see Hoffman driving the vehicle.

Hoffman was taken to the police station where a breath test came back with a .23 BAC.

Hoffman was booked into the Lawton City Jail and was then transported to the Comanche County Detention Center. He was booked on complaints of Actual Physical Control and Possession of a Firearm While Intoxicated.

Hoffman was arraigned Monday morning for APC and is pending proceedings. Hoffman has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of his court proceedings.

Hoffman is currently out of jail on a $1,000 bond.
