Rise in Crimes in Wichita Falls?

Police are investigating a property crime, a robbery of a convenience store and a burglary of a building, all of which has happened this week in Wichita Falls.

Tuesday night at the Zoom Zoom's #4 on East Scott, two men entered the convenience store, held up the clerk at gunpoint and then took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Early Wednesday morning, someone fired rounds into the Braum's on Kemp.

"Just shortly after 4:00 a.m., there was a drive by shooting at the Braum's.  The business was closed, nobody was inside, but there was a significant amount of damage to the building," said Officer Jeff Hughes with the Wichita Falls Police Department.

Wednesday evening, a man with a cart full of merchandise walked right out of the front door of a Dollar General.

"We had another white male bust through the front door of a glass door with a rock, he loaded up a shopping cart full of beer and then push that shopping cart out and it was located a little bit down the road off of McNeil," said Officer Hughes.

The recent rise in crimes just this week is leaving residents to wonder, has it been a week of full moons?

"It tends to go up and down and it tends to go in spurts.  It is not necessarily that crime rates go up. However right now with the heat being what it is, the economy being what it is, we do see spikes in certain types of crime certainly this week," said Officer Hughes.

Police are looking for the suspects in all of these crimes.
