Wichita Falls, Texas - The Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District and Texas Healthy Communities have announced that twelve businesses and organizations in Wichita County have been designated as "Mother-Friendly."
Mother-Friendly employers proactively support employees who choose to breastfeed their infants by providing time, space, and other support to maintain breastfeeding when a mother returns to work.
According to officials, employers who provide Mother-Friendly worksites benefit from increased employee retention, lower absenteeism, higher morale, greater productivity, reduced health care costs, and improved short- and long-term health of the breastfeeding mother and her child.
These businesses and organizations represent a wide range of employment sectors, settings, and worksite sizes.
The Wichita County designated Mother-Friendly Worksites include:
Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, Vinson Health Center at Midwestern State University, Texas Parks and Wildlife, United Regional Hospital, WIC locations, Grace Lutheran Church in Burkburnett, Electra Service Center and the Sheppard Airman and Family Readiness Center.
