Blue Bell Begins Production in Oklahoma

Broken Arrow, Okla. - Blue Bell released a statement on Tuesday about the production of ice cream at their facility in Broken Arrow, OK, a day after its products returned to stores in select locations.

In the statement, Blue Bell CEO and President Paul Kruse stated that the company is pleased to be producing ice cream in Broken Arrow.

"We are humbled by the incredible customer loyalty we have seen, and we want to thank our customers for their continued patience as we work through the process of resuming production and getting back into stores," Kruse said.

Production at the facility will be limited as the company confirms that new procedures, facility enhancements and employee training have been effective.  The company stated that the ice cream will be tested and released for sale after tests show that it is safe.

The Blue Bell production facility in Alabama began producing ice cream in late July, and after several weeks of building inventory, the company began distributing ice cream in Austin, Brenham and Houston, Texas, and in Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama on August 31.

The main Blue Bell plant in Brenham, Texas is still undergoing upgrades similar to those made in Alabama and Oklahoma.
