Bicycle Stop Leads to Burglary Arrest

Wichita Falls, Texas - Two people are behind bars after police say they were found with items from a recent burglary during a traffic stop.

According to police, on September 6th, around 7:06 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop after they ignored a red light at the intersection of 9th Street and Kemp. When officers talked to the suspects, one of them mentioned a gun being dropped, which led the officers to ask further questions.

The suspects had two backpacks in their possession, and further investigation revealed that the backpacks contained a pry bar, several miscellaneous items, makeup and seven bottles of prescription medication under 4 different names.

The investigation led police to a residence in the 2000 block of 8th Street. The items were found to be taken in a burglary in that location, and some of the the pills were found to belong to a person associated with the residence.

The two suspects, 33-year-old Tremayne Dayton Johnson and 26-year-old Christopher Shane Cardwell, were arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

They are both being held in the Wichita County Jail.
