33rd Wichita Falls Citizens Police Academy Begins

Wichita Falls, Texas - 40 people who were wondering what it takes to wear the badge of a Wichita Falls Police Officer got their first taste of the job Tuesday night.

The 33rd Wichita Falls Citizens Police Academy kicked off on Tuesday, attendees will go through an eleven week course that includes: firing automatic weapons, getting behind the wheel of a police car and that's just the beginning.

It's also a win for officers, as many say they  love  having this type of interaction with the community they serve.

Officer Jeff Hughes with the Wichita Falls Police Department said, "This is always exciting. We get to meet new people, we learn just as much from the participants going through the class as they do from us."

The academy is offered two times a year, and invites anyone 21 years and older to apply.
