Rider's Willie Cherry Named Player of the Week

Rider quarterback Willie Cherry played with a heavy heart Friday night, a day after losing his mother to cancer. But after he wasn't sure he'd even play, he wound up scoring the winning touchdown with no time left on the clock to lead the Raiders to a 27-24 win at Amarillo!

Cherry rushed for 159 yards, passed for another 34, also scoring on a 75-yard run in the final minute of the first half.

His mother's funeral was Wednesday morning in Vernon, so he was unable to attend football practice that day, so instead we spoke with Raiders head coach Marc Bindel!
