Baylor County, Texas - On Friday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a one vehicle crash that claimed the life of a woman and left one person injured.
Around 7:30 a.m, DPS responded to a crash on US 277, about six miles southwest of Seymour in Baylor County.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2005 Dodge Neon driven by 41-year-old Kari Ann Burns of Goree, Texas was traveling westbound on US 277, when it left the road and traveled into the median.
Burns then traveled back onto the westbound road surface, slid into the ditch, through a fence, and came to a stop in a field next to the highway.
Burns, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to the hospital in Seymour, Texas where she was pronounced dead. A 10-year-old passenger in the vehicle, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, was also taken the hospital in Seymour in stable condition.
