Update: WFPD Special Officer Passed Away

UPDATE: WFPD Special Operations Officer Calvin Ealey has passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident early Sunday morning.

The one vehicle motorcycle accident happened on Sunday around 3:20 a.m. at the corner of Kemp Boulevard and Call Field Road.

Officer Ealey  lost control of his motorcycle hitting the curb then the light pole, according to the Wichita Falls Police Department. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and was on his personal motorcycle this morning.

Ealey was transported to United Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and is currently in the ICU.

Wichita Falls Chief of Police Manuel Borrego said that it wasn't uncommon for a Special Operations Officer like Ealey to be out that late.

Ealey, 45, had been with the WFPD for 9 years, and is a father of 2 children.

Police say there was a witness to the early morning accident, and they are trying to find out more information from the witness at this time.
