Electra ISD Breaks Ground

Construction has officially begun on the new high school, junior high, and elementary schools in the city of Electra.

On Monday morning, officials held a ground breaking ceremony.  School officials were joined by the architects of the building and a class of students who designed the groundbreaking invitation.

In May 2015, voters approved the nearly $12-million school bond for the buildings.  The superintendent said all of the construction should be completed by December 2016.

"We hope a little bit sooner than that, so we can get in it, but as of right now, that's the plan," Scott Hogue, Electra ISD Superintendent said.
