Two W.F.I.S.D Schools Fail to Meet State Standards

W.F.I.S.D officials said two elementary schools have been given the classification of improvement required by the Texas Education Agency.

Burgess and Washington - Jackson Elementary Schools have failed to reach certain indices in categories that stem from the S.T.A.A.R. test.

Officials said they have already begun to take steps to make the needed improvements.

Peter Griffiths, Associate Superintendent of the W.F.I.S.D  said the board has already begun meeting with an out campus leadership team and will bring a plan to the board's public hearing next week.

Griffiths said he believes the doing away with the modified STAAR test may have also contributed to the decline in scores.

He added the board also has plans to work with the TEA to make certain those schools meet this year's standards.
